Because of the complex matrix in the decoction of TCMM, it is almost impossible to remove the heavy metal meanwhile the active ingredients could not be affected. At present, methods for removing heavy metals in CMM include adsorption methods (macroporous resin, γ-mercaptopropyl bonded silica, chitosan) and supercritical CO2 complex extraction.
